Do you ever have people approach you to see what your doing? does that kill the mood? or kinda take you out of your zone? (For me it does.) my portraits lack the rhythm yours have Im still practicing, though Im not out in the field Im just looking up images online and sketching them out treating them as though they might move any second. just to get the feel for it.
I haven't had anybody to come up to me yet but I can usually see someone trying to peer over my shoulder every now and then! I have to admit I do find it extremely off putting and it's really tough to stay focused, it's just one of those things where the more you do it the less effected you become! My weaker drawings are definitely the ones where I suddenly become self conscious!!
Sounds like you got a good plan, a bit of preparation can go a long way! When you get out on the "field" you might find it actually helps to loosen up your drawings, it has definitely helped me in that sense.
